CLimate Change in Norway

What has been done to remedy the situation?

Future planning for infrastructure development has taken into account the risks that climate change poses for homes that will be built near mountainsides and coasts. More flexible materials are being used to incorporate into buildings to withstand shockwaves and sudden movements from avalanches and landslides.

How has climate change affected Norway?

In the past few decades, flooding and landslides have become more prevalent due to more frequent precipitation. This leads to power outages and loss of mobile reception. Erosion has hastened and all the nearby mountainsides have become dangerous for homes built around it. (Nikel, August 2019)

Climate change effects in Sweden

Similar to Norway, the precipitation levels have significantly increased throughout the country. Wetter winters and drier summers, with an overall increase in the coastal waters' temperature. As the ice caps are melting, the influx of freshwater is mixed into the ocean, decreasing the salinity in some parts of the ocean, which causes disastrous changes to the surrounding ecosystem, spreading into other oceans, making it harder for certain species of fish to migrate back to the spawning area.
