The first conditional

We can use unless instead of if not in the if clause. If my company doesn't make money online, I'll try something new Unless my company makes money online, I'll try something new.

We can also use a modal verb (can, must, should, etc) or the imperative instead of the future simple in the main clause. If you join the computer club, we can go together.

We use the present simple in the IF clause, and we usually use the future simple in the main clause. If Tina uses this website, she will find a lot of useful information.

We use the first conditional to talk about something that is possible in the future. If you buy a laptop, I will show you how to use it.

Putting it all together: If she studies hard, she will pass the exam. f she studies hard (Condition), she will pass the exam (Result).

The structure: If clause (Condition): This part of the sentence introduces the condition. It uses the present simple tense. Example: If she studies hard, Main clause (Result): This part of the sentence expresses the probable result or consequence. It uses "will" followed by the base form of the verb. Example: she will pass the exam

If + Subject + present simple verb, Subject + will + base form of the verb.

If Henry __________ (pass) his exam, he ________ (come) home. Mariah __________ (cook) lunch, if John _________ (buy) groceries. If my mom ________ (have) enough money, she _________ (buy) me a gift. ______________ (go, she) to the party if they __________ (invite) her?

If you eat well, you will be healthy. (Si comes bien, serás saludable.)

If you don’t drive carefully, you will have an accident. (Si no conduces con cuidado, tendrás un accidente.) You will have an accident if you don’t drive carefully. (Tendrás un accidente si no conduces con cuidado.)

Will you buy me an ice cream if I clean my room? (¿Me comprarás un helado si limpio mi habitación?) Will he pick you up if it is too late? (¿Te recogerá si es demasiado tarde?)

Will + Subject + verb in infinitive + If + Subject + verb in present simple + complement?

The first conditional in interrogative form

If + Subject + do/does not + present simple+complement, Subject + will + not/Won't + verb in infinitive

The first conditional in negative form

If + subject + present simple+complement, subject + will + verb in infinitive+complement

The first conditional in affirmative form

(If / it / rain), (we / not / have / the picnic). (She / not / pass), (if / she / not / study / for the exam). (I / not / lend / you / money), (if / you / not / promise / to pay / me back). (If / they / arrive / late), (the movie / already / start). (He / not / come), (if / he / not / receive / the invitation).

If it rains, we will not have the picnic. She will not pass if she does not study for the exam. I will not lend you money if you do not promise to pay me back. If they arrive late, the movie will already start. He will not come if he does not receive the invitation.
