WHY IS JORDAN PEELE AN AUTER DIRECTOR?
- An Auter is the french word for Author and it means that the writer and director has full control over all the roles in the film that they are making. They also keep the whole movie there style.
Auteur theory is a theoretical approach that says the director is the major creative force behind a movie. “Auteurs” infuse films with their singular perspectives and trademark visual styles when translating them from screenplays to the screen.
WHAT IS THE AUTER THEORY?
Jordan Peele is an auter as he writes and acts in most of his films. He also controls most of his movies and shows. An example is Key and Peele. With his first two films, Peele has become a foremost auteur of our time. His experience with improv and comedy are a large part of why his storytelling and filmmaking skills are so sharp, focused and celebrated.
WHY IS JORDAN PEELE AN AUTER?
Key and Peele is a comedy sketch that shows why Jordan Peele is an auter. In this sketch he acts as the main character alongside his partner Micheal Keegan. In this he is acting, controlling and writing the sketch which is part of what being an auter is. Get Out also established Peele as an auteur. He pointed out how the social thriller reflected his experiences as a black man in white spaces. With Us, he gave us a straight horror with less social commentary.
