We all know and love that onion-like ogre! He is so relatable, and that is no coincidence; his movies reference everything pop-culture!And so, to understand the vast cultural impact of the second film of the Shrek franchise, take a look at the video!

The Shrek movie saga draws inspiration from William Steig's 1990 children's book titled "Shrek!" While the films expand far beyond the original story, Steig's book introduced the world to the grumpy, green ogre named Shrek, albeit in a more succinct and darker tone than the animated movies. FRANKENSTEIN (1931)The creation of Mongo (the giant gingerbread man) by Shrek, Gingy and the Muffin man; is a direct reference to the "Monster"s creation if Frankenstein.Gingy even shouts "It's alaive!" just like his parallel Henry Frankenstein.

FLASHDANCE (1983)At the end of the movie, when all the characters are singing, Puss in Boots blows our minds recreating the iconic Flasshdance scene to "Livin' La Vida Loca"

ALIEN (1979)During their walk in the forest, Shrek and Donkey encounter Puss in Boots, who does a great impression of the chestburster that killed John Hurt in "Alien", during his attack.

SPIDERMAN (2002)The famous upside-down kiss between Peter and Jane is recreated cleverly in the honeymoon montage at the beginning of the movie.

LORD OF THE RINGS (2001)At the beginning of the movie, during the honeymoon montage of Shrek and Fiona, we see moment where Fiona's weeding band falls on her finger in the style of "The Lord of the Rings"

COPS (1983 - )When Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots are arrested in Far Far Away, their arrest is aired on true cime-style TV showed called "Knights" modeled after "COPS"
