Task- Analysis of the experimental data
Determine the molecular weights of each band in samples provided.
Analysis of the Molecular data of the SDS-PAGE
Results - Guidelines
Analyse and intepret the data
- Determine the distance travelled by each band in protein standrad
- Plot a graph (X-axis distance travelled, Y-axis Log[Molecular Weights]
- Determine the molecular weights in protein samples using y= mx+ c
- Both positive and negative ME
+ info
Determine the distance travelled by each band in marker
1. Plot a graph using the distance traveled by proteins (mm) on the X-axis against log10 molar mass of protein marker (Y-axis) 2. Find out the Y=mx+c equation using Excel 3. Replace the x value with the band distances provided. e.g for +ME band 1 is 35 so in Y=mx+c use 35 as x value. You will get log10 molar mass of each band 4. Converts log values into normal values using antilog. This will help you to determine the molecular weights of each band. 6. Determine molecular weights of each band in the presence and absence of ME and discuss the variations you have found.
