World goals are goals, about the world, that create a call to action to help support a healthy planet and basic human needs being met.
What are World Goals?
How would I describe this world goal?
The clean water and sanitation goal targets cleaning up our waters to provide clean drinking water for all humans. It also targets providing the opportunity for all communities to have saniation areas to improve quality of life.

Why is this goal important?
Importance
- Water is a basic need to human life
- Sanitation is also a basic human right
- Everyone deserves a fair chance at life

- POPULATION GROWTH
- Water is finite, while the population continues to grow.
- More people, more food needed.
- Leads to an increase of wastewater.
- WATER SCARCITY
- Two billion people live in countries with inadequate water supply.
- Sewage systems fail, creating hazard of diseases.
- Scarcity = more expensive = harder to maintain.
- CLIMATE CHANGE
- Sea levels rising has been causing the distribution of salt water and feacal matter.
- Melting of our glaciers throwing off the regulation of our freshwater.
- Wildfires are destroying vegetation.
Threats
- POLLUTION AND RUNOFF
- Contamination can lead to diseases.
- 6 billion pounds of garbage enter our water every year.
- 70% of industrial waste enters our water.
- URBANIZATION
- Many live without access to safely managed water and sanitation services.
- Poor health conditions and heavy pollution loads
- Unsanitary conditions leading to health problems.
