No regulated or uniform date labelling process in the U.S.A

20% of food waste occurs because of confusion in date labelling

As a cling wrap, PVC takes more than 450 years to biodegrade.

40% of all food in America is wasted. That equates to 130 billion meals and more than $408 billion in food thrown away each year. Commercial food waste makes up 61% and 39% waste is from our homes.

Approximately 36% of all plastics produced are used in packaging. In the US. In the packaging industry, food packaging accounts for 50% of the plastics derived from fossil fuels.

Biopolymers like starch, cellulose, and chitosan have been explored to replace synthetic polymers in food packaging. However, they often have drawbacks such as poor mechanical properties and weak thermal resistance.
