In a sunny place called Makkah, there was a kind man named Muhammad. He loved to sit and think in a quiet cave on the side of the mountain Mount Hira.

One day, during a visit to the cave, he had an unexpected encounter with the shining Angel Jibril. "Read," Angel Jibril gently said. Muhammad looked up, surprised. "But I can't read." Angel Jibril gave Muhammad a comforting hug and softly repeated, "Read."

The angel said, “Read,” once more. This time, with a bit more courage, Muhammad said, "I cannot read." Suddenly, the Angel Jibril’s amazing words were in Muhammad’s heart. These words were revelations - special messages from God. As days went by, Muhammad received more and more of these messages. People later wrote them all down in a book called the Qur’an. This special book tells some Muslim people how to be good, kind and helpful.
