‘My professor said don't use study aids at all. Now what?'
Never depend on a study aid or commercial outline alone-- your professor is the one testing you. Treat what you learn in class as superceding any information you use to supplement your study.
The Law Library provides you with access to some of the most widley used study aids and supplements across the U.S. Caveat: Some are good, some are bad, and some of your professors might even test you to see if you consulted the bad ones.So ask your professor what they would suggest FIRSTEach of these is accessible via our A-Z list

Success: Tips and Resources
Personalize your Review Materials
Make it yours!
- Take good notes that make sense to you,
- Write in your books or use electronic note-taking systems for online materials.
- Draw diagrams and pictures, if helpful. (super useful in real property.)
- Add hypotheticals or examples that illustrate a rule in a way that makes sense to you.
- Translate formal rule statements into plain English short phrases to help you learn them.
- Make your own flash cards or personalize flash cards that you buy.
Use Positive Self-Talk
Think of yourself and speak to yourself as someone who can and will succeed
NO: I have crazy test anxiety and I don't know if I'm going to pass this exam.YES: I acknowledge my legitimate fear, but I won't let it prevent me from succeeding because I am an intelligent person who prepared for this exam.

Vary your study techniques
Make it amusing when you can.
- Talk through concepts or rules you don’t understand with a friend, study buddy, or mentor (perhaps over coffee). If it is someone who will stay focused and not distract you, the person doesn’t have to have a legal background.
- Set some of your mnemonics, checklists, or summary outlines to music. Memorize rules by singing them to the melody of a popular tune.
- Make charts and diagrams. Include some funny images (perhaps a cartoon that makes you laugh) in your study materials.
- Make a recording of yourself reading key rules out loud. Hearing your own voice confidently stating rules will have an empowering effect, even if you were reading the rules when you made the recording.

Every person in this room can pass thier exams.
But you have to work for it!
‘ Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.’
