That's not right! Castoreum is commonly used in perfume as it has a distinct musk like scent to it.
That's not right! Castoreum is used in a Swedish Schnapps recipe. It is still made today but with synthetic castoreum!
Castoreum has been used as a food additive for a long time as it can add a fruity, vanilla taste. However due to the limited numbers of beavers, it is far too expensive to be used often in the food industry.

Castoreum is a liquid found in the castor sacs of beavers. Beavers use it to scent mark their territory. This should deter other beavers from entering their territory. It has historically been used in many products by humans.
