The golden triangle

Create an ambitious lesson

Step 1: Find a professional partner (you and your partner will assist each other throughout this journey of creating an ambitious lesson). Step 2: Each person should have a lesson plan worksheet Step 3: Pick a topic you will be deliverying after half term

lESSON OBJECTIVES

Using Bloom's Taxonomy write down three lesson objectives. The third lesson objective must be challenging and something you have not tried with the class before. Think about previous terminology used with the group.

Types of assessment

How you going to know the students have learnt?
Step 1: Using the flipchart around the room write down as many examples for the three assessment methods. Step 2: Apply one example from each method to a learning objective on your lesson plan.

WHOLE CLASS ASSESSMENT?

If you want to use whole class assesment, examples can be found on Seesaw.

activity

Now apply an activity to each assessment method.
You know your students the best. Just a reminder that you may want to use multiple different types of activities in one lesson. Don't be scared to try something new!

Finish the ambitious lesson plan

Where could you embed English and maths?
How will the students relate the lesson to industry?
Which whole class assessment method could you use as a plenary to check students understanding and consolidate learning?

Planning tips: Select the topic or concept. Select the topic you want to teach. Set learning objectives. Set learning objectives or outcomes. What new skills or knowledge will students have when they finish this lesson? Select the contents. Plan and select the content and think about the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you want to put into practice with your students to achieve the objectives you've set. Divide the plan into phases: input, assessment, and activity. Divide your plan into stages or steps. We're suggesting the most think about the end goal in mind. What do you want to students to know by the end of the lesson. Organise content from simple to complex. Move from the simple to the more complicated. Learning should be gradual and progressive. Start from where students are and what they already know. Link the activities with a meaningful common thread. Each activity should be a rung on the ladder, allowing them to progress in their learning. Get the students to understand the link between the lesson and industry. Contextualize learning materials and use real-world content. The lesson plan should be able to answer the question "How will I use this knowledge in real life?". Encourage your students to solve, investigate, reflect and create. Encourage your students to resolve, investigate, reflect, and create. Allow them to improvise. Open the floor up to debate and let them express their opinions freely. Avoid fireworks. Avoid fireworks in class. Be practical. Everything you do should aim to facilitate learning. Make it motivating and awesome but always meaningful.
