Remerg is a Denver-based 501(c)3 founded in 2015 to break down the barriers to re-entry and disrupt the revolving door of recidivism, one resource at a time. We believe that by connecting justice-involved and formerly incarcerated populations to employment, housing and other community resources, we can empower those individuals to take ownership over their future, turn their lives around, and never return to incarceration.

RE-ENTRYRESOURCEHUB

01

In response to the complicated and often siloed re-entry landscape in Colorado, in 2016 Remerg launched its flagship resource website, www.remerg.com, with the simple goal of providing a no-cost re-entry hub to empower justice-involved individuals to navigate and connect with the multitude of services and programs available across our state.Over the last six years, this free public service has evolved to become Colorado’s leading re-entry website, currently featuring over 1,400 vetted listings spanning employment and education to housing and sober living to legal, family reunification, and veterans services. Remerg.com is accessed by over 6,500 visitors each month, including the justice involved, their support systems, case managers, community partners, and other state agencies.

Remerg Success Thru Connections

Success Thru Connections (STC) delivers monthly meetings featuring peer mentorship, entrepreneurship training, professional development, networking events, guest speakers, and a variety of life-skills workshops. Whether individuals are starting a small business, launching a nonprofit, developing a product, or simply working on their career, STC is designed to help participants not just be successful, but to reach their full potential and secure long-term economic stability. Since STC’s launch, 100% of program participants have remained in the community (0% recidivism) and all have gone on to secure meaningful employment, progress in their careers, launch nonprofits, or start their own businesses.

Remerg Success Thru Connections

While 100% of alumni have remained in the community and maintained some type of meaningful employment over the last three years, over half have started their own businesses or nonprofits, including re-entry organizations, peer recovery coaching companies, sober living and housing programs, dog training/boarding services, and IT consulting firms just to name a few. Many other participants have also successfully gone on to pursue higher education and complete various training and certification programs to support their careers. Our ultimate measure of success is maintaining these results while also providing the opportunity to as many formerly incarcerated and at-risk populations as possible.

Verticle Farming in shipping containers

  • There are many benifits to verticle farming, both for the environment as well as for Remerg's mission.
  • A single person working 20 hours a week can grow nearly three acres of traditional farmland with a fraction of the water.
  • The mushroom farm can yeild over 500 pounds of mushrooms a week!
  • With the climate control you can grow year round.
  • Our hope is to provide fresh greens to the Department of Corrections. Providing fresh foods will not only imrove the general diets of incarcerated people, but studies show that it will also improve their mental and physical health as well.

Remerg CleanGreens™

"Good food nourishes and sustains the body-and does more than that. What we cook and eat affirms who we are as individuals and connects us to people, places, and cultures. Yet a possitive relationship with food-an essential part of being human is denied to us every day to incarcerated people when the food made available to them functions as another form of punishment." -Impact Justice

Remerg CleanGreens™

There is one problem, there expensive, really expensive. One conatiner costs about 190k, with an additional 13k a year for operational expenses. In order to get the greens into the department of corrections we will have to provide them at no cost, at least for the first couple of years. This means that we will have to use grants as our sole sorce of income. At Remerg we are no stranger to doing the impossible. We are passionate about every aspect of this project, from getting our hands dirty (literally), to arguing with CDOC, and even the challenge of raising the money. There are a ton of grants available for agroculture as well as for reentry services, the challange is make this project fit inside of their peramiters. This is the first initiative of its kind in the state of Colorado.
