We are always striving to be the best & every day we plan, analyse, and collaborate not only with our colleagues and shop teams at Betfred but with Inspired too – no two days are ever the same and that’s what I love. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GAME TYPE? It must be a bonus type game – comes from the old analogue AWP fruit machines days. A bonus type game that delivers an entertaining gaming experience is good for me. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GAME?One of my favourites is Centurion - this game gives the full bonus rich experience which was the first of its kind when it first hit our shops. The music and symbols all help with the play experience and so does the Centurion when he makes an appearance from that bush! This game was popular with players back in 2015 when it was released and is still as popular now. ON THE VANTAGE TERMINAL, WHICH OF THE 5 S’s IS YOUR FAVOURITE? It is SHOW – this is the ‘shop window’ of the FOBT. Allows us to give players something of what they like to play along with us showcasing something new to them, using the top 8 games and the video attracts on those game tiles. With new games being released every two weeks, this allows for us to keep that ‘shop window’ fresh and current to SHOW what games Betfred has to offer. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING YOU LIKE TO SEE WHEN ON SHOP VISITS? I like to see a clean game zone, machine screens & stools – this is a must for me. I like to hear shop teams talk about their favourite games and the latest releases – we provide an interactive new game sales sheet for each new game release, so I do like to chat with shop teams about their favourite key selling point and where that new game sits within their shop ranking. WHAT IS IN THE RETAIL GAMING PIPELINE FOR 2024? Our Top of the Slots campaigns are sticking around for 2024 – we have some ‘fobtastic’ new games on the roadmap, so we like to show case these not only with players but shop teams too. Top of the Slots and the 5 S’s give us that opportunity.

As UK Market Product Director, responsible for all things retail in the UK, I often describe my role to other people as ‘If it’s got a coin mech, it’s me’. What I find so fulfilling is when ideas become reality, seeing products and games take the journey from a sketch on a wipe board to being placed into shops. There is nothing better than standing in a shop and thinking ‘I was part of the team that brought that product to life’. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GAME TYPE?From a playing perspective I am a Freespins fan. I think they give players what I used to call in my game design days as a ‘Ronseal’ promise of doing exactly what they say on the tin.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GAME? Anything Cops and Robbers themed to be honest, Cops Bankbuster is probably my favourite. That’s probably down to the fact that I grew up in my playing days on some of the classic Cops and Robbers titles in both Pubs and Clubs and they were the types of games that I found the most entertaining and fun. I have to pinch myself sometimes that I get to sit in the same room as the team and get to feedback and input on design features, when often in my head I’m still that twenty something in the pub just enjoying playing the games. It never gets old. ON THE VANTAGE TERMINAL, WHICH OF THE 5 S’s IS YOUR FAVOURITE? They all have their relative merits but for me it is ‘SORT’ by a mile. I think it is absolutely the biggest time saver for players in getting them to the game they are looking for quickly. The amount of time I used to spend personally looking for titles on a 100+ game terminal and the fact that I can now just press A-Z then press C (for Cops!) to sort alphabetically to find the games I want makes such a difference. WHAT DOES THE JOURNEY OF CREATING A NEW GAME LOOK LIKE? Every game may take a slightly different journey to market, but in general it starts with the game designers sharing a concept with the content team. We will then review collectively what it is about the concept that will make it stand out on a multi game terminal, what is it about the game that will appeal to customers, and how does it dovetail into the overall current content offering. THE ‘BIG FORTUNE’ SUITE OF GAMES ARE POPULAR GAMES AT BETFRED, HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT CREATING THIS NEW TYPE FEATURE?I can’t claim any credit for that personally as it came internally out of the Inspired Games Studio and they created it really as a move on from what we had been doing in games like Big Bonus and Big Piggy Bonus. The thinking behind those titles had been to deliver a freespins feature where the players knew they would have a minimum guaranteed win. So, it was a really clever idea the designers had, to use the same principle in Big Fishing Fortune so that players got to keep on catching fish until they landed the Big Sticky one. It’s a good example of how game design flows naturally from one game style to another and how games can be developed from something we know players already like. THE TWO MAIN PROVIDERS IN THE RETAIL SPACE ARE YOURSELVES AND SCIENTIFIC GAMES, WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES A CUSTOMER CHOOSE AN INSPIRED TERMINAL? I think that when we go up against each other in the same locations then the power of branded titles can make the difference, such as Cops and Robbers, Gold Cash and Reel King. These brands resonate strongly with players and can often be the deciding factor in which terminal to play. If I’m being honest as a player, I’d suggest it’s probably more about the overall retail experience than the terminals themselves. I think the experience that Betfred offer their players is paramount in achieving this – sometimes it can just be down to how welcoming the shop staff are. Yes, the terminal and the games on there must be great but the playing environment must be right. FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH DIFFERENT RETAIL OPERATORS, IS THERE ANYTHING BETFRED EXCELS AT?I think it’s abundantly clear that Betfred really excels in customer service. I think players have developed a sense of loyalty to Betfred over time, mainly because of the excellent service and friendly welcome provided by the retail staff. I think some of the in-shop marketing of new games is really engaging and pitched just right for our players. WHAT IS IN THE INSPIRED PIPELINE FOR 2024? We’ve got loads of great games lined up for 2024, we have a new twist on the Big Fortune games coming out and watch out for our seasonally themed releases to tie in with Cheltenham, Halloween and next Xmas. With the Vantage cabinets now fully deployed we are all collectively looking forward to a great 2024.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 3 WORDS? Enthusiastic, Positive, Inquisitive.PARDON THE PUN, BUT WHAT INSPIRES YOU ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT INSPIRED? As UK Market Product Director, responsible for all things retail in the UK, I often describe my role to other people as ‘If it’s got a coin mech, it’s me’. What I find so fulfilling is when ideas become reality, seeing products and games take the journey from a sketch on a wipe board to being placed into shops. There is nothing better than standing in a shop and thinking ‘I was part of the team that brought that product to life’. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GAME TYPE?From a playing perspective I am a Freespins fan. I think they give players what I used to call in my game design days as a ‘Ronseal’ promise of doing exactly what they say on the tin.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE GAME? Anything Cops and Robbers themed to be honest, Cops Bankbuster is probably my favourite. That’s probably down to the fact that I grew up in my playing days on some of the classic Cops and Robbers titles in both Pubs and Clubs and they were the types of games that I found the most entertaining and fun. I have to pinch myself sometimes that I get to sit in the same room as the team and get to feedback and input on design features, when often in my head I’m still that twenty something in the pub just enjoying playing the games. It never gets old. ON THE VANTAGE TERMINAL, WHICH OF THE 5 S’s IS YOUR FAVOURITE? They all have their relative merits but for me it is ‘SORT’ by a mile. I think it is absolutely the biggest time saver for players in getting them to the game they are looking for quickly. The amount of time I used to spend personally looking for titles on a 100+ game terminal and the fact that I can now just press A-Z then press C (for Cops!) to sort alphabetically to find the games I want makes such a difference. WHAT DOES THE JOURNEY OF CREATING A NEW GAME LOOK LIKE? Every game may take a slightly different journey to market, but in general it starts with the game designers sharing a concept with the content team. We will then review collectively what it is about the concept that will make it stand out on a multi game terminal, what is it about the game that will appeal to customers, and how does it dovetail into the overall current content offering. THE ‘BIG FORTUNE’ SUITE OF GAMES ARE POPULAR GAMES AT BETFRED, HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT CREATING THIS NEW TYPE FEATURE?I can’t claim any credit for that personally as it came internally out of the Inspired Games Studio and they created it really as a move on from what we had been doing in games like Big Bonus and Big Piggy Bonus. The thinking behind those titles had been to deliver a freespins feature where the players knew they would have a minimum guaranteed win. So, it was a really clever idea the designers had, to use the same principle in Big Fishing Fortune so that players got to keep on catching fish until they landed the Big Sticky one. It’s a good example of how game design flows naturally from one game style to another and how games can be developed from something we know players already like. THE TWO MAIN PROVIDERS IN THE RETAIL SPACE ARE YOURSELVES AND SCIENTIFIC GAMES, WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES A CUSTOMER CHOOSE AN INSPIRED TERMINAL? I think that when we go up against each other in the same locations then the power of branded titles can make the difference, such as Cops and Robbers, Gold Cash and Reel King. These brands resonate strongly with players and can often be the deciding factor in which terminal to play. If I’m being honest as a player, I’d suggest it’s probably more about the overall retail experience than the terminals themselves. I think the experience that Betfred offer their players is paramount in achieving this – sometimes it can just be down to how welcoming the shop staff are. Yes, the terminal and the games on there must be great but the playing environment must be right. FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH DIFFERENT RETAIL OPERATORS, IS THERE ANYTHING BETFRED EXCELS AT?I think it’s abundantly clear that Betfred really excels in customer service. I think players have developed a sense of loyalty to Betfred over time, mainly because of the excellent service and friendly welcome provided by the retail staff. I think some of the in-shop marketing of new games is really engaging and pitched just right for our players. WHAT IS IN THE INSPIRED PIPELINE FOR 2024? We’ve got loads of great games lined up for 2024, we have a new twist on the Big Fortune games coming out and watch out for our seasonally themed releases to tie in with Cheltenham, Halloween and next Xmas. With the Vantage cabinets now fully deployed we are all collectively looking forward to a great 2024.
