all of the living and nonliving things in an area

Prerequisite Knowledge

EDIO PAGE 3

There are many different types of ecosystems around the world. Each ecosystem includes all of the different things we've been learning about, such as:- biotic & abiotic factors- biodiversity- ecosystem interactions- negative human impacts- positive human impacts

EDIO PAGE 4

On the next page, you will select a video about one of four ecosystems. This is how you should complete page 38 of your notebook as you watch the video you chose.

List examples of the biotic factors (living) and abiotic factors (nonliving) in your ecosystem. Look for specific examples as you watch the video.

Describe your chosen ecosystem. List features or characteristics.

Watch for examples of organisms interacting with each other. Record examples here.

Take notes here of the different ways humans impact your ecosystem, both positive and negative.

EDIO PAGE 5

This video highlights the life and movement of freshwater rivers and streams. You will see animals and their aquatic interactions with the ecosystem. The video will show why streams and rivers are important and why they should be protected.

Explores the ecosystem of temperate grasslands both above and below the ground. You will see how animals interact with the grassland system. The video also highlights the importance of protecting this threatened habitat.

Explores life on the rocky and sandy shore of the ocean coast. You will see how the marine coast supports life on land and in the sea. The video also examines threats to the ocean and how to protect this ecosystem.

Explore temperate forests of deciduous and coniferous trees. You will see animals and their seasonal interactions with the trees and forest environment. You will examine animal behavior within the ecosystem and how to protect this ecosystem.
