What will happen when water is added to the skittles?
What will happen when water is added to the skittles?
MaterialsProcedure (Directions)
- Skittles or other color coated candy
- Bowl/Plate
- Water
- Cup
Materials
- Gather your materials
- Fill a cup with water
- Create a design with your skittles by placing them on plate.
- Pour your water on the plate.
- Make observations
Procedure
I learned that
Skittles are made with colourful dyes and sugar. The water dissolves this dye and sugar and they move towards a place where there is less dye and sugar.
What Happened?
We call this process diffusion. Diffusion is the movement of particles (in this case, sugar) from a space of higher concentration (where you put the skittles) to a place of lower concentration (where there are no skittles).
What Happened?
Date: Monday, November 6thTime: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pmTopic: Spooky Science
