Hot sand would dry out the dead before they could decay.

Organs were preserved in a special salt called natron. The brain was thrown away.

Make an incision on the left side. Others would throw stones at the embalmer (symbolic)

The body was washed with wine, rubbed with spices, and covered for 40 days with natron.

Added a funeral mask.

Remove the inside parts of the body so it wouldn't decay. (leave the heart in)

Placed in a coffin and possibly a sarcophagus.

Put jewelry, linen, and covered the linen in resin to make it waterproof.
