Antoninus Pius was known as a just and compassionate ruler.He often helped and donated to his people and soldiers. His reign was often known as the most peaceful in the Roman Empire's history.

- Known for being a just and compassionate person
- He was well-respected and liked among both civilians and the Roman government
- The empire during his 23 year reign was in relative peace and prosperity
- He was claimed to be the fourth of the five good emperors for these reasons
- He died in 161 AD, after catching a fever from what was believed a meal of Alpine cheese.
He reigned as emperor from 138 AD to 161 AD, as successor to emperor Hadrian after he died in 138 AD.
Antoninus Pius's last name was given to him by the Roman Senate for his loyalty to the previous emperor, who adopted him to be his heir.
