Characteristics of an inclusive school-Yale University

Through sports, the Champion School program brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together to create an inclusive school culture.

School based clinic providing health care to all students reducing lost school time, promoting family involvement, and supporting student health to aid in their success.

School's vision of technology and community resources enhancing student learning.

Technology provides an alternate mode for students to share what they have learned and it enhances learning. The community resources encourage students to take control of their health and education by providing leadership opportunities and access to health care.

Differentiation of instruction is provided.

Diversity is displayed on classroom walls via posters.

Importance of Inclusivity

It promotes respect among students and staff and creates a safe and encouraging environment where all students regardless of race, culture, socioeconomic status, and learning abilities have the same educational opportunities to enhance their learning.
