The people who led the Selma marches wanted to make sure that everyone, no matter their skin color, could vote. This took place in Selma, Alabama, it began March 7, 1965, and ended March 25, 1965. Many amazing and strong people led the marches, including Martin Luther King Jr. This helped change the laws and made voting fair for everyone!

Rosa Parks was an amazing lady who stood up against segregation on the bus. She refused to give up her seat to a white person in Montgomery on December 1, 1955. She was tired of being pushed around all the time. Rosa parks helped bring attention to the fight for equal rights for african americans.

The Greensboro sit-ins were peaceful protests by African-American students in Greensboro, North Carolina on 1960. They sat at segregated lunch counters to fight for equal rights. The students that protested were the superheroes of the civil rights movement!
