Thomas Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence where they listed the colonial grievances against the king. The colonists wnated indepencedence because their natrual rights were violated.
John Adams wife, Abigail Adams, advocated for womens rights and eqaul suffarge, while women gained more rols in society and politics, thats all theyr ecieved from the men. Women also were apart of republican motherhood where they taught repuclican values within the houseold grqnating women new importance in american politcial culture.
The second continetal congress was the acting government, and while many delegates were afraid of seperation and sent the Olive branch petition to the king he denyed them peace and reconciliation. Washington was selected as the leader of the continetal army due to his experince with the french and indian war.
The fight for independence begins with the battles of Lexington and Concord, aka the "shot heard round the world", where the British wanted to ambush the patriots to arrest leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Although the colonial milita lost the battle they celeberated being able to hold their own against the worlds most powerful army.

The battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the revolution. France was persuaded by this battle to join in and support the patriots in gaining independence.
