Selma Marches (1965)

in 1965 from march 21st to march 25th the people of selma alabama marched for their rights to vote with 600 other civil rights marchers. even though they were beaten and assaulted by the police they still contiued fighting for their rights. this led to a pivital turning point in the civil rights movement this was an important time during the civil rights movement later known as bloodly sunday.

montgomery bus boycottt (1955)

In 1955 on December 5th in Montgomery, Alabama the montgomery bus boycott was taking place. after the arrest of rosa parks because she didnt give up her seat for a white man sparked a bus boycott for segregating the buses. the people of montgomery walked and biked everywhere they went for a entire year so that the bus companys would lose a lot of money to no people actually riding the buses. after a whole year it led to the supreme court ruled that segregation on public transport unconstitutional. this was an important cause because it helped eliminate the early barriers of segregated transportation

in 1961 anniston alabama the freedom riders who were black and white civil rights activists continued onto jackson, mississippi only to be arrested and jailed. this showed that the things going on in the south weren't the same as the orth and this attracted the kennedy administration
