Ottawa is Canada's capital city. This is where the Candian parliament resides.

We will be exploring the province of Quebec the most because this region has the largest proportion of French speakers - 86%.

Why do people speak French is Canada?

After the first European exploration of the west in 1534, France laid claim to the territory we now call Canada. The French quickly made settlements there and French was then imposed as the national langauge even though the indiginous people (people who originally lived and were born in Canada) had langauges of their own. They were forced to use French.

Most of the world's maple syrup comes from Quebec Though Canada is popularly known as the home of maple syrup, most of the natural product actually comes from a specific part of the country: Quebec. Today, the French-speaking province supplies roughly two-third's of the world's maple syrup.

Niagara Falls – Ontario The most recognisable waterfall in the word. It lies on the Niagra River on the border of Canada and USA. While the falls are also impressive from the neighbouring US side, the Canadian side is on a whole other level thanks to its Canada Horseshoe Falls that churn out some 6 million cubic feet of water per minute.

Canada is divided into 10 provinces.

Canada is a parliamentary democracy like in the UK. People vote for who they want to be inn the government. Justin Trudeau is the current Prime Minister Like the UK, they also have a constitutional monarchy (or royal family). Our Royal Famiy are the rulers of Canada. So King Charles the 3rd is also the kind of Canada.

Canada is a country in North America. Its 10 provinces and 3 territories extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, making it the world's second-largest country by total area, with the world's longest coastline. Its border with the United States is the world's longest international land border.
