The U.S. Government is divided into three branches. One of the three branches is the Legislative Branch.Another branch of government is the Executive Branch. The last branch of government is the Judicial Branch. Each of the three branches has a special job that keeps the other branches from having too much power.

The U.S. Government is kept in check by Checks and Balances. The legislative branch writes bills that are sent to the White House for approval. The Executive Branch decides if the bill becomes a law or if it is vetoed and sent back to the Capital Building. The Judicial Branch interprets the laws to be sure everyone is treated equally. The Checks and Balances system keeps each of the other branches from having too much power.
