The Teach First master’s degree, supported by the Brooke Weston Trust, is for Teach First Trainees or Ambassadors.

Application Process
Participants will be students at the university that they choose, and the university will not share student data with Brooke Weston Trust. Participants will be expected to share data about their progress with the Trust. This will include information on attendance and assessment.

Apply to the university of your choice, it must be a university that accepts the credits from your PGDE. To find out more about the master’s degree at each university please refer to the Teach First guidance:

Teachers can choose which university to complete the module with, and it must be a university that accepts the credits from your PGDE. To find out more about the master’s degree at each university please refer to the Teach First guidance:
University Partners
- There are no performance concerns, and the principal is confident that the teacher has the capacity to complete the master’s programme alongside their commitments
- They have discussed the research proposal and are confident that it aligns with Brooke Weston Trust/School Improvement Priorities.
To be eligible to apply part-funding for the 60-credit dissertation module teachers will need to demonstrate that their performance is good or excellent. This will be evidenced by a letter of recommendation from the principal of the school where the member of staff works. The principal would confirm:

- Fund half the 60-credit dissertation module.
Participants will sign agreements with the schools that confirm the following:
Funding Agreement
Brooke Weston Trust agrees to:
- I will share details of my progress on the course, including attendance and grades in modules.
- I will disseminate the learning from the master’s at Trust celebration events and other opportunities in such as at department meetings, training events and similar.
- I will pay half the fees for the 60-credit master’s dissertation.
- I will remain my school, or with the principal’s assent another BWT school, for at least one year after the completion of the master’s degree.
Brooke Weston Trust teachers who have completed 120 credits on the Teach First Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) are eligible to apply for the 60-credit dissertation module. Brooke Weston Trust will support Teach First Ambassadors by funding half the fees by for the 60-credit dissertation module.

Please complete the 4 questions in the application form. For guidance, the application should take about 30 minutes to complete. See mark scheme. Deadline: Wednesday 12th July 2023 Participants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 21st July.

The Teach First master’s degree is designed to build on your effectiveness and impact as a teacher and a leader. Created by Teach First’s partner universities, it offers the opportunity to help you develop your core teaching knowledge, formally reflect on your practice and instigate evidence-based change and innovation in your school and across society. Brooke Weston Trust is committed to supporting Teach First Ambassadors to complete the degree, and Ambassadors are eligible to apply for funding from the Trust.
