Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction acts as a guide for designing engaging courses. It was used when creating the wireframe and other design documents for this project. Gagne's 9 events are as follows:

Gagne's Nine Events

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe outlines the benefits to the learner and what they will experience during the course. Screenplan further details use of video and VO.

For example: - using catch words, quotes- using thought-provoking phrases and sentences- creating compelling stories- showing video clips

1) Gain Attention

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Informs learners of the course objectives. These were created in Part 1 of the project, using SMART targets and Bloom's taxonomy.

For example: - Using SMART to create objectives- Using Bloom's Taxonomy to create objectives.

2) Inform of Objectives

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe suggests activation of video in which learners can reflect on their childhood.

For example: - Relating the new lesson to situations that the learners are familar with.- Ask questions about previous experiences.

3) Stimulate Recall of Prior Learning

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe suggests mixture of ways to present the content, from knowledge presentation, nursery scenarios, quiz type activities and reflection tasks.

For example: - Vary presentation methods.- Use videos, scenarios, case-studies, simulations, games.

4. Present the Content

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe outlines clear sections (content, practice, key takeaways).- Case studies and examples from nurseries are suggested throughout.- Quiz based activites are integrated at the end of each section.- Suggested links to Slack to provide peer collaboration.

For example: - Present lessons in small steps.- Case studies and analogies can guide learners in the right direction.- Integrate online collaboration aids.- Include short 'check your knowledge' activities.

5. Provide Guidance

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe suggests key take-away section which summarises key points.- The toolkit provides online links for learners to recap and access further information.

For example: -Provide 'quick review' tabs or access to online links to help learners recap information.- Design 'decision making-scenarios' based on real-life problems.

6) Elicit Performance

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe suggests summative quiz based on content, which will give instant feedback.- Self assessment and reflection tools to assess own practice suggested in toolkit.

For example: - Provide immediate feedback to assess and facilitate learning.- Offer different types of feedback.

7) Provide Feedback

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- Wireframe suggests use of Slack for learners to post answers to questions and reflections made during the course.- Quizzes available at the end of each section, small assignments in the form of auditing activities are included in the toolkit.

For example: - Include quizzes and assignments.- Have learners post repsonses to questions in a social media group.

8) Assess Performance

Applying this to 'Module 1: Effective Questioning in the Early Years':- The toolkit provides auditing tools to transfer knowledge into everyday working life.- Suggestions given for next steps, including touchpoint meetings.

For example: - Offer realistic assignments.- Ask learners to map the content to everyday life activities.
