Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939 – May 24, 2023) was an American-born Swiss singer.[a] Known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer. She was noted for her "swagger, sensuality, powerful gravelly vocals and unstoppable energy", along with her well publicized history with ex husband Ike Turner and her famous legs.

• Singer, composer, actress and writer has been called by critics as "The Queen of Rock", holding the Guinness Record as the artist who has sold the largest number of tickets for a concert. In 1988, at the Maracanã stadium in Brazil, she brought together more than 180 thousand people.

With sales exceeding 200 million albums worldwide and tours that have taken her virtually all over the world, she formally retired from the music industry in 2013.
