Greece is a country located in Southern Europe on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula, possessing an archipelago of about 2,000 islands. Greece has land borders with Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, the Aegean Sea, the Ionia Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Greek gods

In terms of gods, the Greek pantheon consists of 12 deities who were said to reside at Mount Olympus: Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Poseidon. (This list sometimes also includes Hades or Hestia).

1. When people think of Ancient Greece, they think of the grandiose gods, the sophisticated sculptures, the amazing architecture and the important contributions they made to society. It’s no wonder that people throughout history have been fascinated with Ancient Greece.

During the Renaissance, there was a cultural shift and a rebirth of ideas from Ancient Greece which led to a newfound love for the time period. Many artists paid homage to Ancient Greece with paintings and sculptures with masterpieces from Sandro Botticelli and Raphael to name just a few.

1. Zakynthos is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea and a well-known summer resort. The harbor city of Zakynthos is the capital and major hub, centered around waterfront Solomos Square. Popular beaches like Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas and Tsilivi offer swimming and water sports. Accessed by boat, Navagio beach is the site of a famed 1980 shipwreck resting in a sandy cove framed by cliffs.You hear your audience applauding.
