Because we are governed by legal and educational responsibilities, there are certain elements of apprenticeships that are relevant. So that you can understand some of the content we will cover, or things you might need to do, here is a list of the main ones:

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are often used interchangeably but, although they are similar values, in fact have different meanings. Understanding the difference is important if we are to promote and operate an inclusive culture in our workplace, society and within our learning community. This is a core responsibility for a leader of any team. The difference between the terms is that equality means everyone can access the same opportunities, whereas diversity means valuing the difference between people and inclusion is a measure of how safe and welcome people feel in their environment.Ideally, throughout your programme you will increase your awareness and evidence your active promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion in your team and place of work. To enable you to do that, let’s unpack them a little further…
Equality
Diversity
Inclusion
Equality Equality is about being equal, in status, rights and opportunities. Equality in a workplace, but also in our community and society, means that every individual receives the same and fair treatment as everyone else. When equality exists, people have equal opportunities in everything and it is about ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives, experiences, skills and talents.“It is a belief that no one should have poorer life chances because of the way they were born, where they came from, what they believe or whether they have a disability” Equality and Human Rights Commission.Of course, there are legal requirements that govern our practices but equality means much more than just ensuring that no one is disadvantaged or discriminated against. Not everyone has equal circumstances and so the additional concept of equity is important in the consideration of equality.Equity is slightly different from equality as it means recognising that each person has different circumstances and so, depending on individual need, different types of support might be required to take full advantage of the equal opportunities. An example of this is that everyone has equality in accessing the content and learning on this programme, but equity means that we can display and provide the information in different ways to meet your needs, so if you prefer to learn in a different way, just let us know.
Diversity Diversity is about the range of people in your team and workplace. It embraces men and women with different ages, religions, ethnicities, people with disabilities.Diversity starts with recognising, respecting and welcoming people’s different identities, backgrounds and experiences. It has a stronger purpose than equality because promoting diversity has a focus on positively celebrating the uniqueness and differences in people. It means actively welcoming the differences in people and valuing the contributions that come from those different perspectives. Research proves time and time again that that the more diverse a team is in its members, the more productive and innovative it can be. If you want to read a Forbes article about the benefits of diversity, it is available at: 3 Benefits Of Diversity In The WorkplaceDiversity in the workplace means employing people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and education...Forbes
Inclusion This goes a step further than diversity and means that everyone is actively encouraged to retain their uniqueness and have a strong sense of belonging. No one is singled out for being different or expected to conform in any way.For example, a team could be said to be diverse because it has members from a range of backgrounds, but some of those people may not feel sufficiently valued or included. Inclusion then, is about conscious actions to make sure that everyone is included in work, activities, discussions etc. When teams, groups and workplaces are truly inclusive, individual difference is celebrated, and every individual has the same opportunities to be respected and to progress and achieve. That makes it a great place to work and a team hat everyone wants to be part of.This video from Imperial College London, explains further examples of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
Last but not least, if you are still in doubt, then ask for help! It’s not in my interest to have work from my learners returned as plagiarised, so I am more than happy to help you. However, the responsibility not to plagiarise is with you.

British Values
All UK apprenticeship programmes operate under Ofsted and The Department for Education, which has published guidance on promoting British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. They are:
1
2
3
4
Because we offer our apprenticeship programmes through Ofsted registered providers, we are bound by the same regulations as schools and colleges. As a result of changes brought in during 2018, all Ofsted registered organisations must now have a clear strategy for embedding these values and show how their work in doing so has been effective.British Values are therefore embedded in all apprenticeship delivery models and by all training providers. Evidence is recorded and is an integral part of your learner E-portfolio. You will hear more about these as we progress.
British values are intended to reflect what it means to be a citizen in the modern and diverse culture that is Great Britain and pro-actively celebrate difference and promote diversity. These values were first set out by the Government in the ‘Prevent’ strategy in 2011.
Democracy
The rule of law
Individual liberty
Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
