vIdeo

It was at first a book written in 1953. However it ended up coming out with a movie. The original movie of Fahrenheit 451 came out in 1966. But in 2018 there was a remake of it starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon.

OVERVIEW

Fahrenheit 451 tells the story of Guy Montag and his transformation from a book-burning fireman to a book-burning rebel. The theme of Fahrenheit 451 explores the struggle between mans desire for knowledge and individuality in a society that expects ignorance and conformity. The author, Ray Bradbury warns of the impending destruction and emptiness of culture with intellect numbed by technological entertainment, through his scholarly use of symbolism.

GOVERNMENT CONTROL

01

The theme of Government Control is present when the dystopian society has a powerful political figure that has a large amount of authority over the actions of the community. This is clearly evident in Fahrenheit 451 as it has been deemed illegal to read books by the government..

GOVERNMENT CONTROL

LACK OF INDIVIDUALITY

02

LACK OFINDIVIDUALITY

Lack of individuality is when society, or people in the said society, refuse to embrace different. They more so do the opposite, and influence similarity. In Farenheit 451 almost everyone is the same as most do not read. In addition gthe ociety lacks so much individuality that even the setting seems dull and lifeless.

HUMAN INTERVENTION

03

Human .intervention in health and genetics is when humans become involved intentionally in order to improve or prevent a difficult situation. It isnt really mentioned in the story, but technically since the government has prevented citizens from reading, by making it illegal, they are preventing them from developing knowledge which could have a dangerous effect on upcoming generations.

MISINFORMATION

04

MISINFORMATION

Misinformation occurs when false or inaccurate information is mentioned of certain people or places, most likely in a negative manner. This usually causes confrontation within characters and relationships. In this case, the misinformation about firemen causes people to view them as terrifying monsters and to fear them.

SURVEILLANCE

05

Surveillance is used when the society or people are under observation or being watched. In a society like the one in Fahrenheit 451, this is usually to make sure everyone is following the rules, watching books burn, and taking account of details on anyone showing suspicious behavior.
