About me

In 2018, in the months leading up to completing my degree, I was offered the opportunity to begin teaching as a lecturer in Early Years at an FE college in Kent. After 2 years in role, the pandemic hit and all learning was moved online. I had always had an interest in e-learning and building interactive learning materials, but during this time, it was essential. While teaching completely online for 24 hours per week, my love and passion for building engaging online materials grew. Since then, I have loved exploring a mixture of e-learning tools, making some works that I am truly proud of along the way. I am eager to move into building e-learning as my full time role, take a look around and see just a small example of what I can do!

Background and Experience

Nearpod

During Lockdown, while teaching 24 hours a week using zoom; Nearpod became my saving grace. I learned to make some truly engaging lessons, using the assessment reports to judge engagement. While creating content the website lends itself to story boarding to allow an easy visual of how the lesson will flow from a learners perspective. The images in this gallery show a very basic example of some of the ways I have used Nearpod in my early experience.

Example of the finished storyboard created completely using only Nearpod's features. I often uploaded my PowerPoint and used Nearpod's activities to flesh out the lesson and incorporate assessments and encourage engagement through collaboration.

Using collaborate boards, I was able to encourage engagement and collaboration from my learners, both during a live lesson or while they were working independently. I found them a great self-assessment opportunity at the beginning and end of a topic.

Using open-ended questions allowed me to assess my students frequently and effectively. I used this throughout lessons to review students knowledge and check that they were still engaged in the topic.
