MULTI-LEVEL VERBS There are many verbs that can be considered 'multi-level verbs'. These are verbs that can apply to activities associated with multiple levels on the Bloom's Taxonomy pyramid. Example:

• Explain the 5 Rules of Good Customer Service (UNDERSTAND).
• Explain why the customer service call was ineffective using the 5 Rules of Good Customer Service as a model (ANALYZE).

This is why you will often find conflicting verb lists; one list might contain a specific verb in one category, yet the same verb will be located in a different category in a different list. It is important to remember that it is the skill or action that is being taught using that verb that determines its Bloom's Taxonomy level. BLOOM'S AS A HIERARCHY Bloom's Taxonomy is hierarchical, assuming that the higher levels are dependent on having mastered prerequisite knowledge and skills from lower levels - this is why Bloom's is often depicted as a pyramid. However, it isn't always appropriate to start with lower order knowledge or skills ard work upwards through the taxonomy in a course.
