MODULE 14: My Story - My Community and I
My Story
Next
We all (consciously or not) want to be part of a community. This desire is in fact one of our main evolutionary impulses. Ideally, the community is a place where we feel safe and loved, where we are with the people we belong to and where we can be ourselves. There are no masks or attempts to "frame", but only a sense of calm, belonging and acceptance.
Unit 14.2: What does it mean to be in a community?
Creating communities is difficult in societies where we have spent our lives building walls, blocking each other and claiming our space. Borders are important and having your own space is valuable, but creating space for others in our lives is the essence of what it means to build a community.
Next
Community means the exchange of values, dialogue, collaboration and help. The community is created only through the individual act of kindness, openness and courage.
Next
We will work together to learn about ourselves, pushing the social narratives that separate us, and taking action on important social justice issues, all while learning how to bring happiness and connection back into our lives through storytelling.
