Some of the most important animals that we can see in this place are...

LION

CAPE BUFFALO

AFRICAN ELEPHANT

LEOPARD

There are fewer than 21,000 lions in the whole of Africa. They are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) A lion can run up to 60 Km/hour and you can hear its roar for 10 kilometres. Kalahari lions are a sub-species in the Northern Cape. They've got magnificent black manes.

Cape Buffalo have got and exceptional memory and they never forgive. If you hurt one, there's a good chance it will hunt you down and kill you. In Africa buffalo kill more hunters than any other animal. Cape buffalo can even kill lions. A buffalo is four times as strong as an ox and can easily turn over a car.

African elephants are and endagered species because poachers hunt them for their ivory tusks. The animal's trunk has got thousands of muscles. An elephant can kill a lion with its trunk, so it's better not to get too close to one! Elephans are good ecologists. They can consume up to 250kg of grass and leaves in one day, but a lot of it is recycled into the environment. When the elephant eats seeds, tehey pass through the animal's digestive system and germinate . Elephant excrement it also a good fertiliser.

There are around 1,000leopards in South Africa.Leopards can run up to 60 km/hour, but not for a long time. They feed mainly on antelope and take their food up into the trees to keep it safe. Like human fingerprints, each leopard's spots are unique and you'll never find two leopards with the same spots.
