Click the Exit button to exit your classroom.

Click the Lecture recording button to start a recording at any point once you have logged into a class. You can stop, pause, or continue the recording as needed. After the class has concluded, you will be sent an email with links to the class recording. We suggest that learners use the Playback Rooms to watch class recordings. Note that Engageli never records table conversations for learner privacy. Learn how to optimize your recording for asynchronous learning.

Click START on the timer to enter the time you want to set, and then click the yellow forward arrow. You can then add or subtract minutes with the up/down arrows if you want to add or remove time during a session. Learners will see the timer at the top of their screen so they know how much time is left.

Click My View to toggle between primary views from the following list: 1. Class Gallery will take you to a view where you can see the video feeds of all learners. If you hover and click the Actions menu in an individual learner’s video feed, you’ll see options for:

  • Request to unmute
  • Request to turn cam on
  • Lower hand
  • Add to panel
  • Send a message
  • Join learner’s table
  • Block learner from class
2. Instructor’s video will show your video as an instructor in a large view. 3. Tablemates will allow you to see the learners at the table you've joined in the center of the screen. Remember, however, that their video feeds will also appear in the TABLE tab on the right side of your screen. 4. Tables will take you to the table view where you can join different tables and/or use the seating arrangements controls. When screen shares, whiteboards, or videos are active, they will be options under My View.

Click the More Actions (three-dot) menu to select from a variety of settings and tools including: Hear tables while on the podium in table mode: When learners are working in groups at their tables, and the classroom audio is in table mode, you will not hear each individual table discussion. If you'd like to do so, you can choose this option. Alternatively, you can join tables if you want to speak with smaller groups of learners. Mute all learners: Use this setting to mute all learners in the class. Turn on CC: Turn this on to enable closed-captioning in the classroom. Click to read the instructions for the instructor and the learner. Low bandwidth mode: If you are having any connectivity or network issues, this setting will help with low bandwidth. Get class invite link: If you need the classroom link, you can find both authenticated and guest links here. Contact support for help: This takes you to the Engageli Help Center.

Click the gear icon to open the settings to connect or change your audio and video sources. You can also blur your video background, use Engageli's virtual backgrounds, or upload your own.

Click the video icon will turn off your video so that no one can see you. To turn it back on, simply click the icon again.

Click the microphone icon to turn off your microphone so that no one can hear you. To turn it back on, simply click the icon again.

Click the Share Screen button to choose the entire screen, a window, or a Chrome Tab to share with the entire class. Your primary view will automatically turn into a view of your screen share, and you can end it at any point by clicking Stop sharing, which appears in the preview window at the top right corner of your screen.

Click Activate Tag to activate a Tag in your presentation or document during class. Engageli Tags allow you to run poll/quiz questions and many different class workflows, including starting timers, distributing documents to tables and activating seating arrangements. When running polls and quizzes, you will be able to view live results and can Share results in real-time with the class. You can see the number of learners who answered the poll and the number who did not answer. You can also Lock answers prior to sharing to prevent learners from changing their responses.

The Actions Menu includes different activities that you can use to drive engagement in the classroom: 1. Show clips 2. Distribute documents 3. Start PDF Live Share 4. Start a whiteboard

There are two main audio modes in Engageli: Room Mode and Table Mode. Room Mode This is the default when you enter your Engageli classroom. This means that as the instructor you will hear the audio feeds from all learners, and they will hear each other, regardless of where they are seated. When to use: class discussions, lectures, announcements, etc. Table Mode When you enable Table Mode, learners will hear only their tablemates and you will only hear learners who raise their hands. When to use: small group discussions, projects, and other table activities You can easily toggle between the two modes.

In the TABLE tab, you will see all learners at the table that you choose to join. If you are not at a table, this tab will be blank.

The NOTES tab will open a space where you can type class notes and observations. You can take screenshots of a presentation, and then annotate them. You can also download your notes during class to review at a later date. These notes are saved, time-stamped, and can be used to find specific parts of the class recording when you watch the session back in the Playback Room.

The CHAT tab allows you to send direct messages to learners, specific tables, staff, or the entire class. Choose the recipient of the message from the drop-down menu. You can also upload documents to chat as well as download the chat history during class.

The Q&A tab opens the Question & Answer thread for the class. Here you can post questions, answer questions, and download the thread. You can also validate correct answers. The Q&A thread persists between sessions, so you can see the growing list of questions throughout the duration of the course.

Hover over and then click the Enter full-screen mode icon to move the instructor video and table mates, notes, chat, and Q&A to different parts of your screen. They become floating windows that can be easily moved around.

Hover over the gallery size icon in the top right corner of your screen to choose the number of video feeds you want to see in the class gallery. The options are 12 or 20.

This is the podium. When learners raise their hands, their videos appear on the podium and the whole class will hear them.

Select Direct Class to direct the class to a particular view (panel, instructor’s video, instructor’s screen share, etc.) This can help to ensure learners are focused on the right material, at the right time.

Hover over a learner’s video while on the podium, and then click the Actions menu to:

  • Request the learner to unmute
  • Request the learner to turn on their camera
  • Lower the learner’s hand (remove from the podium)
  • Grader the learner
  • Add the learner to a pane.

Click JOIN to interact with each table individually. When you join a table, the TABLE tab on the right side of your screen will automatically show the video feeds of all learners seated at that table. You can leave a table and go back to the podium by selecting the Back to podium button.

Rename tables by clicking the Table name. You can change Table names at any point during a class session.

Switch to the list view to see a list of learners at each table.

Click Add 5 tables to add five tables to your classroom. As learners join, new tables will get created automatically, but you can use this during class if you are trying to do an activity with small groups and want more tables.

Use the Seat arrangement drop-down to automatically move learners around during class. There are multiple options, including: 1. Free Seating: Learners join the class and can sit wherever they want. 2. Instructor's Seating: Assigns learners to the table groups that you initially set up if/when a roster was created in the Portal. These serve as default table assignments. 3. Random Arrangement Tablesize: Randomly redistribute participants across tables in group sizes (1-10 participants) of your choosing. 4. Split Students by Poll Results: Split learners by different poll responses into table sizes of your choosing.

Use the search bar to find where learners are seated. You can see learners on the table view and list view.

Click Next to scroll through the tables.
