Dear HR´s Manager,I am Jonas Gomes, a Brazilian residing in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. It is a pleasure to meet you. Please let me make a brief presentation about myself.1) My mission is to disseminate knowledge and build a positive legacy that benefits humanity and the planet. I operate at the intersection of academia and real-world impact, driven by a passion for applying knowledge to improve the performance of organisations and communities. 2) My graduation, postgraduation, master's, and doctoral studies are related to Mechanical and Production Engineering, while my postdoctoral research focused on Smart Cities and Decarbonisation, which are related to Sustainability, Environmental Engineering and Energy themes. 3) I have held positions at Gillette da Amazônia SA, the Foundation Center for Analysis, Research and Technological Innovation (Fucapi), the Amazonas State Department of Science and Technology (SECT-AM), the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (FAPEAM), the University of the State of Amazonas, and I am currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). 4) As a university professor, I have dedicated 17,000 hours to communication, teaching (quality management, entrepreneurship, strategic planning, charitable projects, etc.), and mentoring, shaping the minds and behaviors of future Brazilian leaders. All my classes are digital, based on the ARETE method (Aprender, Refletir, Explorar, Transformar, and Evoluir) that I created, which focuses on developing the correct attitudes to help students achieve academic excellence. Additionally, I apply Paulo Freire's Methods, QM tools, and Project approaches to challenge students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, as you can see on my homepage, www.jgsilva.org, under the "Teaching" option. 5) To contribute to society, I actively engage in social issues through 28 years of volunteering experience, from which, seven years facing poverty in Amazon, serving as President, Finance Director, and Project Manager. I have gained substantial fundraising and relationship management experience, founding two organizations and spearheading projects with more than 50 partners. These projects have provided participatory diagnostics, courses, training, lectures, games, events, reading stimulation, recycling, and more, contributing to the plantation of 1,000 trees and benefiting the lives of 5,291 individuals (including small entrepreneurs) in the Amazon. These initiatives have been recognised by Brazilian Government Agencies, JICA, the USA Embassy in Brazil, and were supported by BrazilFoundation, Brazilian Bank Foundation, InterAmerican Foundation, the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, and Telecommunication. 6) In my efforts to disseminate information to society, I've contributed through various mediums: 440 newspaper articles, 36 scientific articles, a book, and participation in numerous events. 7) Regarding grants for research, my journey began in 1997 with a scholarship from the Japanese Government, facilitating interaction with 227 Japanese and 118 Brazilian companies for extensive surveys, leading to the completion of my Master's and PhD. In 2004, I received another scholarship from FAPEAM, enabling collaboration with 77 companies within the Manaus Industrial Pole and 13 metrology service providers. Unfortunately, within the Amazon region, researchers face significant financial constraints, limiting their ability to conduct groundbreaking research and publish in esteemed journals. Consequently, much of my work has been self-funded, reflecting the challenging landscape for scientific advancement in our region. 8) International engagements have broadened my global perspectives through four sponsored exchanges by prestigious organisations such as the Japanese Government's MEXT and MOFA, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Education. The latest exchange in 2022 facilitated meaningful dialogues with Japanese experts, focusing on cutting-edge policies and technologies related to Society 5.0 and Net0, detailed in this e-report <http://tinyurl.com/5am3sz8a>, which I believe could be valuable for organizations. 9) Aside from academic and professional roles, I actively contribute to various organisations and journals. I volunteer and serve as a columnist at the Jornal do Comércio do Amazonas, contributing weekly on interdisciplinary topics to popularise knowledge for society. I also serve as a Nominator and Expert Advisor for the Earthshot Prize, led by Prince William., Social Director of AMEOJAPÂO, an ad hoc consultant for FAPEAM, a reviewer for the Foresight Journal, member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), ABEPRO, the Internet Society, MIT Sloan Management Review, Smart Cities World, Smart City Institute Japan, CoP I NetZeroCities' Community of Practice and the WEF (Digital Member). 10) I have held leadership positions in both third-sector and public organizations, drawing upon total quality management methodologies and tools acquired in Japan to facilitate participatory diagnostics, strategic planning, project execution, and event coordination within the Amazon Region. Thank you for your attention and more information about me is available on www.jgsilva.org. Sincerely yours, Jonas G. da Silva.

This three-year research initiative advances an innovative Green AI-driven methodology to address complex urban environmental challenges in the Brazilian Amazon, with specific emphasis on Manaus, the capital of Amazonas State. Recent empirical evidence from local residents has identified critical environmental concerns, including stream pollution, garbage accumulation, insufficient urban afforestation, air pollution, and traffic congestion (da Silva, 2023, p. 37). While AI applications have attracted growing attention from the scientific community over the past seven years (Gomes da Silva, 2025; Fang et al., 2023; Frincu, 2024; Gazzawe and Albahar, 2024; Henrique et al., 2021; Li et al., 2022; Olawade et al., 2024; Olayode et al., 2020), a significant gap remains in the systematic organization and accessibility of AI-enabled solutions for societal implementation—particularly those that actively involve citizen engagement. So, this study has the following objectives: Phase I (Years 1-2): Conduct a comprehensive analysis and documentation of successful AI-driven policies and solutions from leading smart and sustainavle cities, addressing urban pollution, waste management, deforestation, air quality, and traffic congestion. This knowledge will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and an interactive digital platform utilizing tools including Julius AI, Editor X, and Genial.ly. Phase II (Years 2-3): Implementation and evaluation of a targeted AI-based intervention within a selected Manaus community, focusing on one or two priority environmental challenges identified in Phase I. The methodology integrates the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and Toyota A4 Report framework with mixed-method research approaches, partnerships with KCL, The Manchester University, UFAM and other stakeholders, ensuring robust alignment with the unique socioecological context of Amazonian urban environments. The project's anticipated deliverable is a comprehensive database featuring scalable AI-driven urban sustainability solutions, emphasizing ecological resilience and equitable resource distribution in rapidly developing tropical urban centers. This framework will serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners addressing similar environmental challenges in emerging urban contexts.
