R-RESPECT MEDIA LITERACY BREAKOUT AIMS- Learn what RESPECT means - Build RESPECT for COPYRIGHT - Educate on MEDIA LITERACY - Learn how to distinguish FAKE NEWS - Develop critical thinking skills by analyzing and evaluating information available online - Develop ICT skills by playing games and create a guide and fake news detector game SUGGESTED COURSE OF THE LESSON1. Use a Jamboard or any other tool and ask your students to provide a definition of FAKE NEWS - brainstorming. Use the Twinboard to share your thoughts. 2. Introduce students to the following definitions and compare them to the students' answers: - false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke (Cambridge English Dictionary) - false, often sensational, information disseminated under the guise of news reporting (Collins English Dictionary) 3. Students follow the activities in the Genially Breakout and take notes while playing. Which information would you highlight and use to create your own Fake News Detector Guide.

Which country is it from? Add 3 facts about this country. Where and how was it probably produced? How much are workers there paid? How is it transported to Europe? How much did you pay for it? Are you surprised about any facts you found out? How often do you buy a new T-shirt? What happens to it after you stop wearing it? Can we, customers, change anything about this story? What? SLOW STATION Teams work together and design a city where they'd like to live. They consider and discuss different topics (businesses, energy and environment, transport, residential areas, smart technologies, groceries and restaurants, fashion, pastime facilities and art). They also visualise their ideas in online drawings or sketches.

Watch this presentation and play the games. 2. Study the notes and create a slide with the main points you found in the games. 3. Edit and share the slides into this joint presentation. 4.
