Doing a research demands a researcher to posses research knowledge and skills. Research knowledge relates to anything related to how to conduct a research, knowing the philosophy underlying a research methodology and such. Research skills are related to whatever skills needed for a researcher to have to conduct a research without undermining ethical aspects.
Thank goodness we have finally finished all the topics related to research methodology. Now, are you ready to start your journey as a researcher?
Of course!
No thank you, I’ll pass
Now, you need to decide. Only a person like you can do a research that !
Hehehe, I was kidding. Ahem, of course I’ll help you
Ouch! I thought you were cool ... What will become of us!
I knew you would not fail me! Thanks a lot! Here is the sword. Now gather the Elemental Gems to complete it and defeat your biggest enemy i.e. fear towards conducting research on your own.

LEVEL 1 - EARTH GEM
Where do you think you’re going, a lonely explorer (aka researcher)?! You won’t be worthy of the Earth Gem until you get all my questions correct. Do you dare to try?
What is the approriate research to investigate a trend on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic?
Correlational research design
Longitudinal survey research
Longitudinal survey research is appropriate to investigate trends
What is the most suitable sampling design to be used when it is difficult to get a sample if the study involves socially sensitive issue like LGBTQ+ among students?
Simple random sampling
Snowball sampling
Snowball sampling is based on referrals. It relies on existing participants to recruit new participants from their networks.
Does it necessary to validate research instrument or research procedure before you conduct a research?
Yes
No
Validation is not only on research instrument but also research procedure for both quantitative and qualitative research. Ethics approval is one way to validate research procedure.
As a postgraduate student, what is one practical element that you need to consider in choosing your research issue?
Locality of samples
Timeframe of postgraduate programme
Considering timeframe of a programme is crucial for ensuring timely completion and avoiding unnecessary delays in your study.
Is it compulsory for a researcher to do a literature search?
Yes
No
It helps researchers to spot what is missing, underexplored, or debated in previous studies.
Congratulations!! Here is your reward, you have earned it.
Hahahaha, what do you say? ...
Oh, I've lost my mind, give me another chance!

A sample is a subset of a population
A sample is a subset of a population selected for study to represent the characteristics of the larger group. Instead of studying the entire population (which is often impractical), researchers analyze a sample to make inferences about the whole population.
The best design to use in education to study cause-and-effect relationships is survey research
Survey research cannot establish causation due to its non-experimental nature. The most suitable research designs for cause-and-effect studies are experimental and quasi-experimental designs, because they allow researchers to manipulate variables and control for confounding factors.
Experimental design is the best design to describe and measure the degree of association between two or more variables
Experimental design focuses on causation, not just association. It involves manipulating an independent variable and observing its effect on a dependent variable, rather than simply measuring the relationship between two or more variables.
Cross-sectional survey design is the best for investigating changes of the same population over time.
Cross-sectional survey design is not the best for investigating changes in the same population over time. Instead, longitudinal research designs are more suitable for studying changes over time.
Hypothesis is a narrowed statement of a qualitative research problem
A hypothesis is a narrowed statement of a quantitative research problem because it takes a broad research issue and translates it into a specific, testable prediction.

A ________ confidence interval with a 5 percent margin of error means that your statistic will be within 5 percentage points of the real population value 95% of the time
90
A 95% confidence level means that if we repeated the study many times, 95% of the confidence intervals calculated from those samples would contain the true population value.

In The Mind of a Mnemonist (1968), Alexander Luria studied __________ with a seemingly unlimited memory, sometimes referred to in contemporary literature as "flashbulb" memory, in part due to fivefold synesthesia
In his book "The Mind of a Mnemonist", Alexander Luria studied one individual, a man known as S. (Solomon Shereshevsky).

📌 Smaller Margin of Error (1% to 3%) → Requires a larger sample size, more extensive. 📌 Larger Margin of Error (5% to 10%) → Acceptable for broad trends, requires a smaller sample size.
