Storytelling week

STORYTELLING WEEK

Every year, around Sant Jordi, our school celebrates Storytelling Week. For two weeks, families and teachers are invited to share stories in English with children from the preschool and early primary levels. These storytelling sessions take place during school hours and aim to foster a love for reading and language learning. The GEP team also offers story suggestions and materials to support anyone who wishes to participate.

HALLOWEEN JACK-O'-LANTERN CONTEST

Every year, to celebrate Halloween, our school holds a Jack-o’-Lantern contest. All primary and secondary students can take part voluntarily, either individually or in pairs, by creating their own Halloween pumpkins. Throughout the day, the pumpkins are displayed in the school, where each cycle visits and votes. At the end of the day, the winners are announced and receive a small prize.

SPEAKING CORNER

Speaking Corner is a collaborative English project between 5th grade and 3rd of ESO students. Older students guide younger ones through different speaking sessions focused on culture, pronunciation, and role play, enhancing fluency and enthusiasm for communication.

Here you have some opinions of the students about the experience:“We love this activity because it’s a way to communicate with kids in a more relaxed and natural environment and we enjoyed being teachers. We would like to do this project with the youngest students from the school” - 3rd ESO student. “It’s a different and a funny way to learn English” - 5th grader.

the dynamization day

This is an activity aimed at the teachers of the school. It consisted of several games to be played in groups to practice the English language while having fun. It was organized by the English teachers and executed by some 4th of ESO students who volunteered to help in the event. The session lasted 2 hours and participants were put in mixed-abilities groups. The event began with a listening practice of the song “Song for the planet” in which teachers had to put the lyrics of the song in order. Then participants were asked to play 4 games; a running dictation, a classification of words, who is who and true or false sentences related to British customs and traditions. Participants had to use the English language all the time and they helped each other finding the right words or understanding the instructions.

CM and CS students write letters and record videos throughout the year with students from other schools. We talk about ourselves, our school, our environment and our festivals.

lAnguage assistant

The language assistants help us to improve the oral English skill. They support English teachers of all primary and secondary grades just as other teachers who give their classes in English (CLIL)

LET'S PLAY

Every week, the 3rd of ESO students organize some cooperatives games for the kids' morning break time. Once a month these games are in English, so the sutdens, the kids and the teenagers, have another oportunity to improve their oral skills.
