1) OBTAIN THE EORI NUMBER

The Economic Operator Registration and Identification Number is indispensable in all customs procedures when exchanging information with customs administrations, whether based in the UK or in the EU.

The format of the EORI number is divided into two parts: - Country code of the issuing Member State - Code or number unique within the Member State

Persons established in the customs territory of the EU must apply for the assignment of an EORI number to the customs authorities of the EU country in which they are established.

It is issued by the customs agent or the Authorized Economic Operator AEO. It must be completed on two sheets DV1 and DV1 bis.The main purpose of this requirement is to establish the value of the transaction to set the customs value (tax base) on which the customs duties are applied.

The first sheet details the relationship between buyer and seller, with clear reference to the relationship between them, as well as the declared price, according to the true data of the operation. The second sheet details the additional costs incurred by the import operation (freight, insurance, etc.) and provides the amount of the exchange rate used in the event that the purchase was made in currencies other than the Euro.
