Views of Senegal Glasses Manufacturer for Everyone
This project with real impact both in Senegal and Lleida, is born in collaboration with the NGO Ocularis working in Senegal with educational centres, health professionals and local opticians who perform eye exams and provide glasses for children in vulnerable situations and without resources to acquire them. As part of the project, young people from housing projects where they follow employment integration programmes in Lleida will create lightweight, durable, and low-cost ophthalmic tools at the Lleida Digital Social Lab. Therefore, in a world where technology advances at the speed of light, this project puts innovation at the service of people.

Do it yourself
Through training workshops and a tool lending space, youth we support in flats with employment integration programmes and CRAES of Lleida participate in activities where they learn by doing, creating, repairing, and giving a second life to things. A lively creation space where their creativity and empowerment are promoted so they gain autonomy and confidence while fostering recycling, the collaborative economy, and circular economy. Beyond that, it also encourages it to be a meeting point where youth, who have arrived alone in Lleida, can build connections, a community network, and a sense of belonging.

Sharing is caring
For the services of Baix Llobregat sharing is caring. That is why they have promoted a pooling of their resources through a Time Bank and a Resource Bank that facilitates equitable access to materials with the aim of fostering a more equitable growth, promoting decent work, a circular economy where materials are reused, and contributing to cost reduction. A goal in which, also, the people served have been involved in management and maintenance tasks to promote a social economy rooted in the territory and that empowers people by contributing to the development of their skills, abilities, and decision-making.
The future is mine
Everyone deserves the opportunity to build the future they want, but people experiencing homelessness often face barriers to accessing formal and/or specialised training due to economic or documentary reasons, among others. Additionally, they are usually offered hospitality, cooking, or cleaning courses, but does everyone want or can they dedicate themselves to these jobs? At CPA Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, the person is at the centre so they can decide their path and training. The future is in their hands.
To Senegal: access to glasses not only improves children's health and lives, but also gives them other opportunities such as continuing their studies. In Lleida: The technology of 3D printers is approaching young people in housing with employment integration programmes so they can learn to use it and are trained in the Make It philosophy (Do It) so they can create whatever they want with this tool. Therefore, they are empowered with training in technological skills that can open doors to the job market and, therefore, support their emancipation and autonomy.
Youth in action, squares with life
For centuries, squares have been meeting points, places of trade, activities, exchange and connection among people of all ages, in short, lively hubs. Now, in Ciutat Meridiana, according to the latest public health report from Barcelona City Council, one of the main issues is youth poverty and job insecurity, which have led to the Red Square becoming a place of incivility and consumption. A reality that is being countered by hiring young people from the neighbourhood to energise this public space with educational, sports and artistic activities to recover the square and adjacent streets, transforming them into a lively and safe space for children, their families and neighbours.
Dismantling disinformation and hate crimes
Disinformation and hate speech against people like those we support at Suara Cooperativa are increasing on social media and spreading among the young population. Therefore, workshops are offered with adolescents and young people supported by Suara Cooperativa to learn how to detect them; as well as with workers to acquire the skills to train in this area.
From the way of life: we do not let them fall
One of the critical moments for fostered or former fostered youths is when they leave the protection system, they must emancipate, but they have no support network or accompaniment. To prevent situations of poverty, loneliness, and social exclusion, this initiative aims to provide them with educational and/or employment support that not only helps them build a work project offering stability but also to build a relational and community network.
Opportunity Summer Babar
The summer camps and colonies are more than just a leisure space, they also offer an educational project through recreation, a relational space where equality is promoted and support for family reconciliation. Now, public grants require families to choose between the summer camp or colonies, but with this project, it is guaranteed that children and adolescents in Nou Barris in vulnerable situations can participate in both. Specifically, four weeks of summer camp and four days of colonies.

Current connections: young people who connect, communities that grow
A community exchange project through which young people we support in residential resources with social and labour integration programmes can offer hairdressing and barbering services to the community, including people in situations of extreme vulnerability such as those experiencing homelessness. These services are not paid with money, but the beneficiaries share knowledge, workshops or experiences, which also allows them to create a relational network.
Towers of Life
The youth we accompany, both in flats with social insertion programmes in Lleida and the Noguerola CRAE, create vertical gardens with plastic bottles and 3D printers. These are installed in the services, where the youth and workers from Suara take care of them. In this way, the youth are empowered to gain more autonomy in the labour and social world by training in the necessary digital skills to operate the 3D printers; giving them a role of responsibility and decision-making in caring for the gardens; promoting teamwork and values such as equality so that everyone participates on equal terms (people served and workers). A simple action that transforms spaces and lives.
