State Government Waste Levy
For the 2026/27 financial year, Council has received $2,179,879 from the State Government under the Waste Reduction and RecyclingAct 2011, as a local government affected by the State’s waste levy. The purpose of the payment is for Council to use the payment tomitigate the direct effects of the State waste levy on households in Council’s local government area.The 2026/27 annual payment amount will not fully offset the expected direct waste levy costs incurred, or to be incurred, by Council inproviding the domestic waste management utility services to households. After applying the State Government payment, Council willrecover the remaining net waste levy costs through the Part B component of its waste management utility charges.
