Endocrine disruptors have complex names like benzoate, bisphenol, or phthalates... They are all around us, invisible to the eye, yet we are all exposed to them daily through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the products we use. While research on the topic is still relatively recent and rapidly evolving, it is gaining more and more attention, the latest example being the growing concern around PFAS.

Cleaning products can contain fragrances, glycol ethers, phthalates, and fluorinated compounds that can have an impact on health and the environment. Choose natural alternatives, such as baking soda, white vinegar, black soap, cotton cloths, and elbow grease. Instead of air fresheners or candles, you can open your windows 20 min per day.

Some plastics can be endocrine disruptors (such as PETE, PVC, or bisphenol A, which is banned), as well as some pesticides found in fruits and vegetables. The "cocktail effect"

The "cocktail effect" refers to the impact of mixing different endocrine-disrupting substances, which is a common occurrence in cosmetics. Some ingredients that are not toxic on their own may become harmful when combined with others or when interacting with packaging materials.

This is why it's important to test the final formula in their final packaging as done by SVR.

WHEN ARE ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS MOST RISKY?

We are exposed to endocrine disruptors all our lives, but we are particularly sensitive to their effects during:

The first 1000 days of life

The fetus, baby, child up to 3 years of age.But also the mother, before, during and after pregnancy.

The origins of chronic diseases lie in the prenatal period: maternal diet, genetic program, lifestyle, and environment.

Adolescence

Period of intense hormonal changes.

If these hormonal changes are disrupted by EDs, it can have health consequences.

If you were not aware of this, don't worry: it's never too late to take action and limit your exposure now for the rest of your life.
