Purpose of pinning

Pinning is important in pre-assembly and part assembly operations.

It ensures parts are held in position during drilling phases, thereby avoiding misalignment issues.

It ensures permanent contact between parts to avoid gapping and pillowing issues.

During wet assembly, pinning allows the interposition sealant to flow before it polymerizes.
