Interactivity and animation can be your best allies when creating tables, infographics, or charts that help provide context to the information and simplify data for your audience. We are visual beings, and it is easier for us to 'read' images than to read written text.
Why Data Matters
Why does data entry matter? Think of it as our digital leash to success. Accurate medical records save lives, great photos get dogs adopted faster, and clean data is the secret weapon we need to win the grants that keep our shelter running. Your inputs directly impact our mission!

Entering a New Profile
Starting a New Intake Record
Let's kick things off! First, log in using your rescue credentials. Before you create any new entry, use the search bar to look for the dog. We want to make sure we don't accidentally create a duplicate profile for an animal already in our system.
Once you've confirmed no record exists, click 'Add New Dog' to start a fresh profile. Be sure to double-check that you haven't missed any existing records, as preventing duplicates keeps our database clean and our rescue operations running smoothly.

Start by filling out the name and estimated age on The Basic Info Tab to kick off the new profile.
Record the weight and where we found the pup; this helps us track their health and recovery journey.

Don't forget the microchip number if you have it handy—it's vital for our reunification efforts!
Add in your best guess for their primary and secondary breeds—don't worry, just give your best estimate!

Note down if the pup is good with kids, has high energy, or has any other quirks we should know about.
Detail where the dog came from and the circumstances surrounding their arrival at our facility.
Record all vaccines received and current spay or neuter status to keep our medical records current.
Finalizing the Profile: Media and Saving
'Always hit "Submit for Review" before closing the browser to ensure your hard work is captured for the team.'
Make sure to upload at least three clear, well-lit photos for every rescue profile. It really helps our potential adopters see the dog's personality. Always double-check that you see the 'Saved Successfully' green banner before leaving the page.
Saving data correctly is the last, but arguably the most important, step in the intake process. Don't let your progress slip away—click that button!
