We're rolling out an exciting new offering through select veterinary clinics. Starting with 20 clinics in Texas, participating vets will offer Lemonade pet insurance directly to clients during wellness exams. Here's the big draw: all waiting periods are waived for new policyholders who enroll through this offer. That means their pet is eligible for coverage for accidents, illnesses, and orthopedic conditions starting at 12:01am the day after they sign up. And as an added bonus, they'll automatically receive a 10% discount off their premium. Please note that this is separate from the traditional waiting period waiver. Unlike the waiting period waiver, this is built into the offer itself. There's nothing extra for the vet or the policyholder to submit.

New policy language
For the most part, this policy looks and functions like any standard Lemonade pet insurance policy — same coinsurance, deductible, and annual limit options, and the same core policy language. The one addition is a new section in the Terms and Conditions that covers the specifics of this offer. This section will only appear in policies issued through the vet clinic offer, so policyholders who enrolled outside of the vet exam offer won't see it. See the policy language to the left.

Claim impact
From a claims perspective, these policies function like any standard Lemonade policy, with one exception: instant claims will be temporarily blocked for the first 30 days after enrollment. During that period, those claims will be handled manually. After the initial 30 days, claims are eligible for instant settlement as usual. A couple of things you'll notice in Blender:
- These policies will have an indicator similar to what you see on Chewy policies.
- Waiting periods will no longer appear as a reject reason in the dropdown menu within the Review Items and Item Review & Payment tasks.

Rapid fire Q&A
Q:Will more clinics participate in this program? A: That's the goal! Leadership will evaluate how the program performs with these initial 20 clinics and determine how to expand from there. Q: Will the vet fill out a form like they do for the waiting period waiver? A: No. While the policy language references the possibility of a form, we'll rely solely on medical records to determine coverage eligibility. Q:Will medical records be reviewed at the time of enrollment? A: No. We'll attempt to gather records as we do for all new policies, but an MRR will not be performed at sign-up. Q: What if it turns out the qualifying exam was actually an illness visit? Will the policy need to be canceled? A: No. If we discover after enrollment that the exam was illness-related rather than a routine wellness visit, we won't cancel the policy on that basis alone. Q: Do acute Claim Investigation guidelines still apply during the first 30 days? A: Yes. As always, rely on your context clues. In most cases, we won't settle a claim within the first 30 days without medical records unless it's a clear-cut accident (e.g. fractures, toxin ingestion, etc.).

Example: Towtruck the English Bulldog was seen for his annual wellness exam on 6/15/2026. During the exam, his vet documented facial fold dermatitis and stenotic nares, but otherwise gave him a clean bill of health. His owner enrolled through the vet clinic offer the following day, on 6/16/2026, and his policy became effective 12:01am on 6/17/2026. On 6/22/2026, a claim was submitted for lameness in Towtruck's left front leg. Complete medical records were obtained and an MRR was performed. During the MRR, allergies and entropion were also identified as pre-existing conditions. The lameness, however, was determined to be eligible for coverage and the claim was approved. The facial fold dermatitis, stenotic nares, allergies, and entropion would all be excluded from coverage as pre-existing conditions. The standard pre-existing condition provisions apply just as they would on any other policy whether identified during the qualifying exam or discovered later during an MRR.
