Managing Vector Attendance
There are a few options to choose from when you manage attendance. Click the plus signs to learn more about each.
Approving attendance/credit
Removing Attendees
You can remove participants from events so they are no longer enrolled at all..
When you approve, the attendance/ credit appears on the staff member's transcript.
Attendance vs. Credit
For some sessions you'll be approving Professional Learning hours. For others, you'll be approving attendance only. You'll have to determine if your session will be worth PL ahead of time.
Declined
No-Show
People who don't show up but are enrolled could be marked no-show
You can deny someone the approval of their attendance/ credit in some cases.
Removing Participants
When people don't show up to your session (or don't fully participate) it is possible to remove them from the event so they don't see it on their transcript and aren't listed in enrollees at all. This is probably the most appropriate action if your session is not required for staff. However, it is up to you how you choose to mark those who do not attend or do not follow the social contract.
INFO
It might feel like marking someone no-show is the best action if they don't show up. However, if your session is optional, it might not make sense for them to have the no-show on their Vector where sueprvisors can see.
If your session is worth PL...
IFor sessions to award PL
- Consider the expectations and standards you want to set to earn the PL.
- Clearly communicate the expectations to attendees at the beginning of the session.
- Consider reiterating the expectations when necessary.
- Attendees should be learning new information that will improve their practices at work.
- The content should be above the baseline (compliance) that attendees need to do their job.
Approving attendance/credit
When you approve, attendance, you are stating that the person was there during your session. If your session has PL associated with it, you are also agreeing that they met all requirements to earn the hours, including following the social contract. Keep in mind that these hours are sometimes used by staff for relinsensure.
Declining attendance/credit
Declining credit shows up on a participant's transcript so they can see it and so can their supervisor. This option requires you to put a reason for declining the credit in as you perform the action. You might decline if a person did attend your session but did not meet the requirements for approval. Click the plus sign for some examples.
Marking people No-Show
If you mark someone as no-show, that will be listed on ther Vector so their supervisor can see. You might choose to do this if your session was required and a person who signed up did not show up to the session.
