Villa Müller a Praga, è molto più di una residenza privata: è il manifesto del pensiero di Adolf Loos. Un’opera che riflette il Raumplan nella sua forma più compiuta:un capolavoro del pensiero architettonico europeo.

"Io ho scoperto e donato al mondo la seguente nozione: l'evoluzione della civiltà è sinonimo dell'eliminazione dell'ornamento dall'oggetto d'uso."
Nato a Brno il 10 dicembre 1870, fu il promotore di una nuova idea di architettura, instaurando una battaglia contro l’ornamento eccessivo.
Il suo credo era l’utilità della linea, il rigore estremo: nulla è casuale in architettura e la decorazione è superflua in una costruzione il cui scopo è quello di essere funzionale. "Ornamento e delitto" è il titolo polemico di un suo famoso scritto.
Costruita tra il 1928 e il 1930 nel quartiere residenziale di Střešovice, zona collinare di Praga, la Villa Müller nasce dall’incontro tra Adolf Loos e l’industriale ceco František Müller, socio della società farmaceutica Dr. Müller & Co. La richiesta della committenza era chiara: una casa moderna, funzionale e rappresentativa, in grado di riflettere uno stile di vita colto ma riservato. Non un palazzo monumentale, ma una residenza privata che incarnasse prestigio, ordine e comfort.
L'ESTERNO
L'INTERNO
All’esterno, la Villa Müller si presenta come un edificio severo, rivestito di intonaco bianco, con aperture rettangolari disposte secondo una logica che può sembrare casuale, ma che rispecchia fedelmente la distribuzione interna degli spazi. La casa si mostra come un blocco compatto, immerso nel verde del giardino.
L’interno è un mondo sofisticato, dove ogni ambiente ha un’identità cromatica e tattile distinta. Marmo lucido, legni pregiati, boiserie, velluti, tessuti: Loos compone una sinfonia di materiali capace di trasmettere emozioni, senza mai ricorrere all’ornamento fine a sé stesso.
