I fattori a cui era dovuto erano:
- I giovani della borghesia locale
- durante la seconda guerra mondiale i soldati avevano combattuto per Francia e Inghilterra
- paesi colonizzatori erano indeboliti dalle guerre
- USA e URSS avevano interesse a cancellare le colonie
- c’era una nuova mentalità.
Alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale nei Paesi colonizzati riprese la lotta per l’indipendenza politica e per ottenere la fine dello sfruttamento economico.
LE DUE VIE VERSO LA DECOLONIZZAZIONE
La via pacifica e negoziata: Adottata principalmente dal Regno Unito, ha previsto il progressivo trasferimento dei poteri a élite locali attraverso trattative. Le ex colonie sono state spesso inglobate in organizzazioni sovranazionali come il Commonwealth.
La via della lotta armata: Intrapresa laddove la madrepatria ha opposto resistenza, spesso a causa della presenza di forti comunità di coloni (es. Algeria e Vietnam). Ha comportato conflitti prolungati e sanguinosi, culminati in guerre di liberazione nazionalegoziata: Adottata principalmente dal Regno Unito, ha previsto il progressivo trasferimento dei poteri a élite locali attraverso trattative. Le ex colonie sono state spesso inglobate in organizzazioni sovranazionali come il Commonwealth.

La produzione dipendeva dalle richieste dei mercati esteri. gli stati dovevano importare tecnologia e servizi dai paesi europei, i quali controllavano l’economia delle ex colonie (Neocolonialismo).
