build the world

Take these one at a time. Let the group focus on each one before moving forward.

How did she get there? Was she taken? Did she climb in herself, looking for safety, and find she couldn't get back out? Was she born there and told it was normal? Has she been there so long she can't remember?

Who or what is keeping her in? Is there a guard? A lock she can't reach? A voice that told her she wasn't allowed to leave? Is it possible the door isn't even locked, and if so, why hasn't she tried it?

What does she believe about herself, alone in that tower? What story has she been telling herself about who she is and why she's there?

What does she believe about a rescuer - if she even thinks there is one?

How does the rescuer show up? (Not: does a rescuer show up. They do.) A voice through the stone? A figure who appears inside with her, somehow? A door she's walked past a hundred times that is suddenly, inexplicably open? Something she notices for the first time?

What does the rescuer say first? Not a speech. One thing. What is the first move they make toward her? How does she respond? Does she believe it immediately? Does she pull back? Does she ask him something first?

What does the escape look like even if you only get the first step? (You don't have to finish the story.)
