Would you please enlighten me on one of your favorite things so that I may be introduced to Earth culture?

The Story Begins

"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world."

I really love this show because of all of the variety in culture and backgrounds. Regardless of differences, everyone can get along on the basis of peace brought on by the Avatar. I'm sure this is something you can relate to especially considering how willing you are to learn about Earth customs.

I would then show them a picture of Avatar Aang (see left) "This is Aang, the last airbender and the current Avatar. He is technically 112 years old and the world he once knew is no longer here. He then spends the majority of his time with his new friends Katara, Sokka and eventually Toph. Avatars are meant to keep the balance in the world and is passed from being to being. It is not said for sure how the next avatar comes to be, but Aang is one of many.

This is a drawing of Katara. She is the one who narrates the intro to the show and she's one of Aang's best friends. She and her brother, Sokka are from the Southern Water Tribe. Katara is also one of the waterbenders and healers in her tribe. She and her brother willingly leave their family and home in order to accompany Aang on his adventure around the world. Katara becomes Aang's first bending teacher, showing him how to bend water

This is a drawing of Toph. Toph is from the royal Beifong family but is also an underground blind, Earth Bending Fighter. Mainly looked down on for her disability by her family, she decides to run away to join the Avatar's adventure and becoming Aang's earth bending teacher.

This is a drawing of Zuko. Zuko is the Prince of the Fire Nation. He has been exiled from his kingdom by his father, the fire lord . He was tasked with the mission of finding the avatar (whom at that time was considered gone from this world). Zuko plays a huge role in trying to capture Aang prior to him mastering all 4 elements. He does spend a lot of the show questioning what he's been taught his whole life that by the end of it, he becomes Aang's fire bending teacher and part of the Avatar's group of friends.

You really have to watch the show but I'll kind of explain the seasons or books to you

Book 2: Earth

Book 3: Fire

Book 1: Water

In book 2, Aang travels to the Earth Nation to find his teacher. He stumbles across the "Blind Bandit", in an underground wrestling match. Toph then joins the group.

In book 3, Aang , Katara, Sokka and Toph covertly live in the Fire Nation learning basics from the school but later on meets the "reformed" Zuko who eventually travels with Team Avatar to try and defeat his father by the end of the summer

In book 1, Aang is mainly focused on learning how to waterbend. He travels all the way to the Northern Water Tribe.

I feel like I've already given you way too much information but I genuinely hope that you take the time to watch it, you can find it on the streaming platform called Netflix.... An explanation of what Netflix is probably is due but I can show you when the time comes.
